Within the Peace Pillars program, the Center for Strategic Studies to Support Women and Children CSWC implemented its first dialogue session of the initiative " Together to promote the concept of transitional justice" 

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Center for Strategic Studies to Support Women and Children , funded by Deeproot foundation has implemented  its first discussion session within the Initiative " Together  to promote the concept of transitional justice" , within the framework of the Peace Pillars program. 

The first dialogue session addressed  transitional justice issues before and after  war in Yemen during two sessions in the presence of eighteen male and female participants that are  representatives of official bodies (judicial authorities, security department, siege affairs office and the National Committee for Women) ,  community initiatives represented by a group of activists in the field of human rights, monitoring violations and local and community mediation, and the session also included a number of victims and survivors. This session aimed to provide participants with knowledge concepts about transitional justice and knowledge of transitional justice issues before and after the war as well as issues that have not been addressed , all in order to achieve the principle of justice and peace.

 

The session started with a comprehensive introduction by the facilitator, Mr. Basem Al-Hajj, in which he talked about the concept and history of transitional justice, the components and mechanisms for achieving transitional justice, as well as the conditions, requirements and factors for the success of transitional justice, in addition to a historical and descriptive narrative of successful and failed experiences. 

The session included two discussion groups in which the participants reviewed historical and story narration, different international experiences, their personal experiences, discussion and analysis of the context of projects, as well as discussing legislation and the reasons for the failure to approve it, and designing matrices for working groups that help evoke transitional justice issues, in various historical stations of Yemen and even the current situation. 

The session concluded with a number of recommendations, with one participant's recommendation noting that " transitional justice is one of the urgent topics that require raising awareness of its concepts among youth, actors and activists in the field of peace and local mediation"
